A colourful programme of famous melodies

Prague Concert Orchestra presents an elegant and colourful programme with soprano, trumpet, organ and piano. The string orchestra performs on its own or with piano, while the organ is paired with the trumpet, giving the concert a rich variety of sounds.

You will hear music by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Verdi and Charpentier, together with well-known movie melodies and popular songs. The programme includes the festive Prelude from Te Deum, Bach’s Air, selections from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Schubert’s Ave Maria and other famous works. One piece is performed on a historic Aida trumpet, an unusual instrument rarely seen at concerts today. The changing combinations of voices and instruments give every part of the programme its own character.

Many Sounds in Exceptional Acoustics

During this one-hour concert, the musicians perform from two different places inside Kostel sv. Mikuláše on the Old Town Square. The organ sounds together with the trumpet from the main organ balcony, where the music rises into the dome and spreads through the baroque interior.

For most of the concert, the string orchestra, soprano and trumpet perform directly in front of the audience. You can hear their sound clearly from close by and compare it with the more distant sound coming from high above near the organ.

Thanks to the exceptional acoustics and unique design of the church, every part of the programme sounds different. The majestic organ, bright trumpet, gentle soprano and warm strings allow you to experience the acoustics of the church through many different styles of music.
